Mall Brochure for Taipei 101 Mall
When Taipei 101 was finished in 2004, it instantly became one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. The tallest building in the world until 2010, Taipei 101 still serves as one of Asia’s financial and commercial hubs.
Within Taipei 101 lies the Taipei 101 Mall—one of Taiwan’s most elegant shopping plazas. Long a favorite with international shoppers, in 2008, Taipei 101 Mall approached Babel in the hopes we could assist with the translation of a full color brochure that was being published to introduce the mall’s shops, restaurants and services to overseas shoppers.
At Babel, with every translation we undertake, we look to achieve function, elegance, and fidelity. We work to remain true to the original text, yet understand that a perfect translation does not read as such. Therefore, each paragraph, each caption, or each title is revised time and time again until not only has the message of the original been perfectly translated, but its spirit and intent as well. Regarding this particular project, Babel successfully created a succinct, yet warm translation—one that welcomed shoppers to come and discover the treasures waiting for them at the Taipei 101 Mall.
