行于世，当识人，识人不必探尽，探尽则多疑；
当知人，知人不必言尽，言尽则无友；
当责人，责人不必苛尽，苛尽则众远；
当敬人，敬人不必卑尽，卑尽则少骨；
当让人，让人不必退尽，退尽则路艰。
 
5 Rules for Dealing with People
 
At first meeting, avoid excessive inquires, otherwise doubt and misunderstanding may arise; 
With those familiar, avoid speaking your mind fully, otherwise friends will be few and far between;
When assigning blame, avoid excessive harshness, otherwise people will learn to stay away from you;
When showing respect, avoid being overly humble, otherwise people will think you lack courage and integrity;
When compromising, avoid doing so completely, otherwise you may find yourself with no options.
